So this project was probably one of my more challenging ones. I think after this one, I may stick to smaller items...lol
I Had this old framed in mirror that I purchased at an auction and i think I may have gotten 2 of them for around $10.
The first thing I did was remove the backing and took the mirror out of the frame. I decided to paint the frame white, because white is always a good neutral color. I used my silhouette machine to cut the vinyl stencil...words of advice on this DO NOT TRY TO APPLY IT AS ONE LARGE DECAL...My husband and I tried to apply it that way and it was too large to get it to lay smooth enough without bubbles and ripping the letters. I ended up reprinting all the wording separate. I also found out that using contact paper on the glass works much better than the silhouette vinyl. The contact paper is much easier to remove and gave a better seal in my opinion. PLUS it was only $2.25 at the dollar general store...SWEET! lets say that contact paper will be my material of choice for most projects.
Here is the link for the you tube video i watched to figure out how to cut longer than the silhouette mat. This guy gives some pretty good tutorials using the silhouette. one suggestion I have though is that when cutting contact paper you must adjust the blade setting to 1; I left mine on 2 the first go round and it completely cut out the lettering and it also jammed up the machine...

Also the last picture shown was the inspiration for the project. With the silhouette you can take a picture of anything and it you can make it into something cool. I LOVE THIS MACHINE SO FAR!!!!
